There is, for example, the HC25 which is based on the high-speed data transmission standard HSDPA and offers up to 3.6 Mbit/s, or the MC75 which transmits data via the EDGE standard – the fastest standard in the GSM network – or the TC35i which offers just GSM connectivity. UMTS/HSDPA has become a world standard with over 200 networks launched in 87 countries (according to the GSA). These impressive figures indicate how important HSDPA technology is. The HC28 (especially designed for Japan), HC25 and HC15 enable you to profit from high-speed data transmission at 3.6 Mbit/s. The modules come with a robust mounting and interface arrangement ensuring that they meet the requirements of the M2M industry, e.g. a serial interface. The HC28, which is optimized for Japan, comes with the necessary certifications (Jate and Telec) for this market and enables you to develop applications (e.g. industrial PDAs) which can be deployed anywhere in the world.

The new HSDPA module is here to afford you easy access to Japan, the world’s third strongest economy and fourth biggest exporter. The HC28 has all the European, Asian (R&TTE, GCF), and US (FCC, PTCRB) approvals, as well as the Jate and Telec certifications necessary for Japan and local operator approval. Optimized for the Japanese market, the module nonetheless offers full roaming capabilities for the rest of the world. With a rich set of cutting-edge communication features such as HSDPA 3.6 Mbit/s, Tri-Band UMTS/HSDPA, and Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, the all-new HC28 raises the technology bar. Like all other Cinteiron modules, the HC28 is engineered to speed time to market and cut development costs. It offers a gratifying combination of top-drawer communication capabilities and platform features such as RIL/NDIS/USB and Multiplex drivers for Microsoft®-based devices, paired with a robust mounting and interface concept. These interfaces, among them the module’s USB and Serial ports, readily connect to your application. The Serial port is still the prevailing industrial interface, making the HC28 the right choice for all M2M applications. The USB port, in turn, comes with various drivers (RIL/NDIS/USB, Multiplex) providing the best connections between the communication module and Microsoft® Windows systems; connections that are indispensable for PDAs, entertainment devices, handhelds, USB modems, and the like. The USB interface may even be configured for the CDC-ACM standard to the extend that it enables customers to use a standard Linux driver.

What’s more, the module offers full voice and data support. Different voice modes (handset, headset and hands-free) are available, and voice and data features can be used at the same time. Courtesy of UMTS and HSDPA, data can be transmitted at the highest possible speed.

Like all Cinterion wireless modules, the HC28 complies with the EU Directive on the Restriction of Specific Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS).
